Kombo Osaio Kamara was an aspiring candidate in the June 24, 2023 General Election for a seat in the Parliament of Sierra Leone. The election was currupt, full of violence and political intimidation. Kombo was a member of the opposing party, the All People’s Congress (APC).

The ruling party, supported by a traditional royal chieftaincy structure, pushed cultural norms to be obayed, which are not consistant with God’s Holy Word. Kombo chose to reject the crown and publicly oppose the ruling authorities, a decision that was not well received. As a result, he faced threats to his life and ongoing political intimidation from opposing party members.

These events culminated in a tragic fire that claimed the lives of three individuals and nearly took the life of his wife, Fatama Kombo Kamara. Due to these life‑threatening circumstances, Kombo was forced to flee Sierra Leone, seeking safety first in England and later in the United States.
