Pastor Jim Montieth and wife Tamara

AP International is a Christian, non-profit organization serving communities in Sierra Leone, Africa, through education, church ministry, and community development. The organization focuses on improving educational opportunities, supporting teachers, increasing access to clean water and sanitation, and strengthening local communities through sustainable programs.

AP International will be renovating and expanding its current facility in Freetown. The existing building lacks running water, reliable electricity, adequate safety measures, and a functional kitchen. Current improvements include adding a commercial kitchen to support a nutritious breakfast and lunch meal program for students, increasing safety for students and staff, and upgrading the facility to better serve the school, church, and surrounding community.

A well is being installed to provide clean running water for the facility. The project also includes separate male and female shower facilities for students, teachers, church members, and community residents. Washers and dryers will be added to provide access to clean clothing for teachers, students, and church members.

AP International has increased teacher salaries and continues to invest in teacher development. Teachers participate in online training with Dr. Holly O’Dell to improve English proficiency and strengthen classroom instruction through professional development in pedagogy.

The organization also hosts Bible classes for adult church members.

To expand access to biblical resources, Dr. Brett Montieth developed the AP Resource App, which provides the Bible, commentaries, and other theological resources in Krio, allowing people to study Scripture in their native language.

AP International plans to build a new school and church complex in Kerry Town, nex to the Olivia B Academy. The campus is designed to serve approximately 300–450 students and will include classrooms, administrative offices, teacher housing, a library, meal facilities, reliable electricity, running water, showers, washers and dryers, and other essential infrastructure.

Students will be transported daily from Freetown to the Kerry Town campus to expand access to quality education.

As the school grows, AP International is in the process of adding a Secondary School.

The organization also plans to:

  • Continue increasing teacher training and assist teachers in earning professional certifications.
  • Partner with local government to strengthen educational and community initiatives.
  • Introduce telehealth services to improve access to healthcare.
  • Develop vocational and trade training programs that provide practical skills and improve long-term economic opportunities for individuals and families.

Through these efforts, AP International is working to improve educational opportunities, strengthen faith, expand access to clean water and sanitation, support teachers, and provide practical resources that benefit children, families, and communities throughout Sierra Leone.

Feeding Program at the AP International Primary School

Children at AP International Primary School’s Allentown facility—up to 160 students, and approximately 25 staff members—are now receiving nutritious daily meals. These meals are designed to provide essential nutrients and adequate protein to support the children’s health, growth, and development.

In addition to implementing the feeding program, AP International has made significant improvements to the Allentown facility. These upgrades include installing a new deep well, completing the plumbing throughout the building, upgrading the electrical systems, repainting the facility, and modifying and redirecting gutters to better accommodate the region’s heavy rainfall. Due to the well, we now have access to fresh drinking water for both the facility and the surrounding community.

Parent and Teacher Testemonies Regarding The Feeding Program

Hello to this forum. I want to say thank you to the administration of this school for the good work they are doing. My daughter came back from school yesterday very exited about the new developments in the school. She said the now have flush toilet, the school has been repaired beautifully and that they were served lunch. She said the school has employed new teachers that her class alone has two teachers. These are very laudable developments and as a parent I am very pleased. Thank you auntie Fatima and Rev and all the teachers.

– Parent of AP International Primary School Student

There’s so much joy in the hearts of the children, as much as I know how hard for about 90% of the kids last year could not afford good meal for a lunch. Your heart will melt if you are around these kids when lunch is about to be serve, the joy, smiles and discussion between them. It’s just heart touching.
We are grateful to God and to Pst Jim and the American pastor members 🙏
