Brett Montieth
Brett Montieth

Son of Pastor J.D. Montieth, Dr. Brett Montieth’s spiritual journey has been greatly influenced by the faith of his father as well as John Bunyan in his classic book, Pilgrim’s Progress. It was in college that Brett gave his life to Christ as he came to realize that he was the older brother, a dutiful and loyal son, in the parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32), and he needed Christ’s righteousness to replace his own (Philippians 3:9). Following a vision to serve and connect with others to provide both physical and mental healing, Brett received his Doctor of Medicine degree and went on to specialize in psychiatry. Brett strives for excellence and maintains a humble, teachable heart in his work, and was fittingly elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the only national medical honor society in the world. He was also selected to receive the Compassionate Psychiatrist Award. Although Brett is a decorated medical professional, he has never lost his childlike spirit, affinity for puns and dad jokes, and endless smile that radiates an aura of kindness and joy.

Tamara Montieth, A.Th.

Associate of Theology

Danielle “April Sunshine” Hertel

Tamara is the loving and faithful wife of J.D. Montieth. They have been married for over 40 years and have two sons. Jim and Tamara met soon after high school, when Tamara was a jockey riding racehorses for her dad, while Jim was training horses for his grandpa. They both shared not only a love for horses, but more importantly, a deep and affectionate love for the Lord. Today, Tamara continues her equine pursuits by both training and jumping the Montieths’ horses. In their early twenties, Tamara and Jim entered Bible college and soon after graduation moved to South Dakota. For over twenty-five years, she was the sole editor of Jim’s sermons in preparing them for radio broadcast. Her deep love for God has made her an able counselor of not only young women in ministry, but also aspiring young spiritual men. There is also no one who lights up a room with both laughter and warmth more than this outgoing wife and mother of two. Currently, Tamara is heading up both gathering and putting into class form the American Pastor library. There is no doubt, as seen in her years of faithful service to the Lord, that she has been called by Jesus Christ to be His own. Jim has often only half-jokingly stated that the Lord has blessed his wife with more intimate and precious gifts than even himself, proving that the Lord cherishes and adores not only those in the public eye, but also those whom, though having different gifts of the Spirit, continue to serve the Lord just as faithfully as those called to preach and teach it. Tamara Lea Montieth is a vibrant, loving, and living example of this. Her love for Christ and the body of Christ, proves her as Christ’s own. She is His, and He is hers, and all those who have ever met her know this.

Danielle holds the responsibility of selecting the worship songs for Sunday morning service and is honored to be a member of the Gospel Sharing team. Alongside those responsibilities, she is a member of the multimedia and book editing team. She has the most nicknames of anyone on the team, referred to as: “Belle, Bella, Bellsy, Dani, D., Dan, April, Yellow Rose of Texas, Sunshine, and more! Danielle has a genuine love for helping people, especially the youth, cope with emotional and behavioral problems. This desire inspired her to obtain her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and she now works as a Christian counselor. Through counseling, she has come to learn that all mankind, regardless of age, is fallen and broken, and that only Jesus Christ can truly transform hearts, restore lives, and give hope to lost humanity. Believing that her call is to “offer her life as a living sacrifice” (Romans 12:1), she seeks to continually give more of her life to serve the Lord Jesus in Christian ministry.

Jake is truly a “Jack-of-all-trades,” responsible for setting up and operating nearly every piece of equipment for the In the Mouth of Two or Three Witnesses studio recordings and for Sunday morning services. From setting up cameras, lighting, and the sound system to clearing sidewalks of snow and mowing the lawn, he is always seeking to make his surroundings “more excellent”. Jack loves to listen to music and sermons, and fittingly, he has recently recieved his Doctorate in Audiology. He desires to help restore hearing to those that have lost it, allowing them to hear the Word of God. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17).

Whether engaging with a lifelong friend or a stranger, Jacee embodies a heart given to hospitality. Her lighthearted and welcoming presence brings refreshment to all whom she encounters. From youth to young adulthood, Jacee found deep joy in attending church and a multitude of summer camps with friends. It was in these spaces that Jacee’s journey toward the Lord was ignited and led her to pursue higher education at a Bible college in Minnesota. With a genuine passion for worship, Jacee’s heart naturally overflows in spontaneous songs of praise to her Lord. Her love for people—regardless of their age, race, or background—is reflected in her selflessness to bear the burdens of others (Galatians 6:2) and provide encouragement to troubled hearts. Jacee’s pure and genuine faith is evident not only in the way she shares the Gospel, but also in her daily life, where her actions continually reflect the love and hope found in Christ.

Chase McGinley

Throughout his early life, Chase was immersed in the Catholic faith. He left the comfort of his hometown to attend college at the University of Wyoming, and it was then that he chose to live life according to his own will. Similar to the Prodigal Son in Luke 15, Chase came to the end of himself and humbly turned back to the Lord, repenting for the life he had lived. Now unashamed of the Gospel that saved him, Chase began to share the story of his spiritual journey with others. His strong desire to reach the lost with the Word of God and partake in Christian ministry led him to attend Sioux Falls Seminary, where he received a Master of Divinity degree. Chase’s past experiences continue to fuel his passion for ministry, particularly drawing him to young people—especially college students—who are themselves trapped in sin and estranged from God.

Colby also trained in boxing, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu for several years, transferring the principles he learned of resilience and discipline to “fight the good fight of faith” (I Timothy 6:12). In addition to his ministerial responsibilities, Colby also has a Master’s Degree in Architecture and specializes in commercial design. He holds a position as an Architectural Associate, while studying to become a licensed architect at Architecture Incorporated in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Amber is the lead web designer for the American Pastor website and a member of the multimedia team. She also helps edit the workbooks for the In the Mouth of Two or Three Witnesses sermon series, that will be used for Bible courses. The Lord has gifted her with a creative eye and she has sought to maximize those gifts by gaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, with a minor in Interior Design. While in college she befriended a Christian girl in whom she “saw something that was different” (2 Corinthians 2:15) and immediately knew that she wanted what her friend possessed. She prayed and asked the Lord to surround her with more friends like that, and in God’s abounding faithfulness, He sent her a pastor, a church family, and a ministry to serve in, “exceedingly abundantly more than (she) could ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20-21). She would later move from her hometown to be closer to the ministry in which she has felt called to serve. She has learned that merely being involved in religion is not enough to save a person, but that only through Christ can eternal life be given. Amber’s faith continues to deepen and widen as she uses her skills and creative eye in design to contribute in building Christ’s ministry.
